Project Specs:

SACO provided a high-brightness lighting solution to The Globe sculpture, a 30ft tall immersive audio-visual experience that’s part of the AT&T Discovery District located in downtown Dallas, TX.

Inspired by the AT&T logo, the polished outer shell reflects the surrounding campus and the whole sculpture sits on a rotating turntable. Visitors enter the structure composed of 15 interior ribs embedded with over 300,000 high-brightness colour LEDs powered by SACO’s V-Stick S2. Once inside people trigger a series of sensors, which transforms the interior into a light and audio show, creating a truly personalized experience. Lighting and music change based on speed, movement, number of visitors present and secret areas that activate bonus content.

“Embracing this extraordinary collaboration with AT&T has been an immense honor for SACO Technologies. Our exceptional team of visionary designers, brilliant engineers, and dedicated technicians relished the opportunity to join forces with Paul Helms Lighting Consultants, Gensler, Float4 and Electrosonic to deliver the AT&T project, embarking on a journey of meticulous planning, innovative design, and flawless execution to craft an unparalleled lighting solution. Witnessing the awe-inspiring accomplishment of the AT&T Globe lighting system has been nothing short of extraordinary, as it now radiates a mesmerizing brilliance, captivating both the local community and visitors a like.”
– Proudly stated by Jonathan Labbee, Co-CEO of SACO Technologies.

SACO’s V-Stick S2 allows for double the brightness of it’s standard V-Stick whilst keeping the same compact, thin structure which remains a key feature for project integration. Typically used as a direct-view light source, the V-Stick S2  this time round was used to reflect the coloured light onto the interior structure of the sculpture, creating a softer blend of light, whilst keeping an intense brightness level. SACO also provided 30 V-Brain 1600 which help power the LED fixtures alongside the SACO Nano Processor for content playback.

Widley known for it’s achitectural integration, the V-Stick S2 showcases a great example with The Globe and it’s capability for public art pieces.

The AT&T Discovery District fully opened in June 2021.
