The newest vessel from our client, Celebrity Cruises, was unveiled in late 2018 and SACO was delighted to work with our agent SDA, the New York-based Lighting Designer MRD, and Integrator Videlio to light up the Magic Carpet, an innovative tangerine-colored structure on Celebrity Edge. This is the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform that moves up and down the ship and reaches heights of 13 stories above sea level.

SACO Shockwave ALFA, Delta-1, Delta-2 and V-Brains were used to add accent and effect lighting, making Magic Carpet’s sleek space recognizable from miles away. The open-air lounge or restaurant has stunning views of the sea when positioned along higher decks. When moved to Deck 2, it can be used as a luxury disembarkation station, where passengers can catch boats to shore. More than 100 feet long and 20 feet wide, Magic Carpet was developed in collaboration with renowned British architect Tom Wright. It has a maximum occupancy of 100 people.
